Darshna is the Ex-Councillor of Ward 143, Sidhartha Nagar, having represented the ward and its earlier boundaries as Ward 156, Bhogal, across four consecutive terms from 2002 to 2022. At every election she won, her vote count rose — the strongest testimony a public servant can earn.
Today she serves as a member of the All India Congress Committee (AICC). Her party has repeatedly placed its trust in her: the Congress fielded her as its nominee for Mayor of Delhi in 2009, and she presided over the first meeting of the newly elected corporation house in 2017 — administering the oath to councillors. Within the corporation, she served on several committees, including the Works Committee, the Central Ward Committee and the Appointments & Disciplinary Committee.
She holds a postgraduate degree (M.A., M.M.H. College, Ghaziabad) and a B.Ed. (Dayal Bagh Educational Institute, Agra), and brings a background in education to her approach to public service.
Over two decades in local governance, her work has centred on practical, on-the-ground issues — roads, drains, sanitation, parks, schools and responsive administration. When residents needed answers, she never hesitated to question agencies and officials on their behalf — and she remains just as accessible to every resident today.
The verified public record — her vote count rose at every election she won. Ward numbers changed with delimitation; the seat and the service stayed the same.

Through the efforts of Councillor Darshna, high mast pole lights were inaugurated at four locations in Siddharth Basti — Buddhan Singh Park, the Siddharth Basti Shiv Mandir, the Baraat Ghar in Sunlight Colony, and Rajesh wale Park. Local Congress party workers were present at the inauguration.
Using ward development funds, Councillor Darshna had a hut for senior citizens built at Shadi Ram Park in Bhagwan Nagar and inaugurated it. All colony members were present at the inauguration and thanked the councillor for the work.
Through the efforts of Councillor Darshna, street light installation was launched and inaugurated at Ambedkar Park in Siddharth Basti. Departmental officials and local Congress workers — including Shri Devinder, Shri Udit Bhaskar, Shri B.S. Nigam, Shri Mohar Singh, Smt. Sneh Lata, Shri Shyamlal Gautam, Shri Indresh, Shri Sant Kumar, Shri Brijpal, Shri Mehta, and Shri Ashok Kumar — were present at the inauguration.

On 20 February 2021, Councillor Smt. Darshna Ji inaugurated the construction of a new footpath at the park near Shalimar Dhobi Basti in Ward 143, Siddharth Nagar. Local residents, RWA members and Congress party workers were present at the inauguration. Darshna Ji also toured the colony and heard residents’ problems.
On 18 February 2021, Councillor Smt. Darshna Ji inaugurated a drain near the Kale Khan temple. Residents of the Kale Khan area and RWA members were present.
On 27 September 2020, Councillor Smt. Darshna Ji inaugurated a yoga hall at Hukumchand Park (Senior Citizens’ Park) in the DDA Flats (80 sq. yd) of Sunlight Colony No. 2, dedicating it respectfully to senior citizens, and received blessings from the elderly residents present. Congress DPCC delegate Shri Roshan Khurana Ji, along with party workers and senior women and men of the area, were present at the inauguration.
On 19 September 2020, Councillor Smt. Darshna Ji inaugurated a public toilet built at Kilokari Ring Road, in place of a dustbin that previously stood there, and dedicated it to local residents. She also went door-to-door encouraging residents to dispose of household waste in garbage collection vehicles instead of on the street, to help address the waste problem.
On 27 September 2018, Councillor Darshna Ji got an ornamental gate built at Subhash Sharma Park in Kilokari, Ward 143, Siddharth Nagar, using her municipal fund, and inaugurated it, dedicating it to the residents of the area. Local Congress party workers were present at the inauguration.
Ward Councillor Smt. Darshna called in departmental officers to resolve the waterlogging problem at Park No. 07 in Siddharth Extension Pocket C, and got the issue fully addressed.
Ward Councillor Smt. Darshna had a fogging machine operated across Ward 143, Sidhartha Nagar, to provide residents relief from the mosquito menace.
Through the efforts of Councillor Darshna, the booking fee for two community halls in Ward 143, Siddharth Nagar, was reduced. The Sarai Kale Khan community hall’s fee was cut from Rs. 25,000 to Rs. 15,000, and the Sunlight Colony community hall’s fee was cut from Rs. 15,000 to Rs. 10,000, benefiting local residents.
